International Trends
A trend in Europe that is slowly making its way over to the US. is to use outdoor as an extension of a public-relations campaign. In other words, you use outdoor to get a lot of free press.

For example, automotive manufacturer Infiniti bought a billboard space in Los Angeles and pasted 30,000 $1 bills on it to advertise its newest, least expensive car. The billboard was guarded 24 hours a day, and the press jumped all over it. Cars driving by may not have known what the billboard was advertising, but the idea of it was so unusual that the press definitely took notice.

In another example, a radio station put its disc jockey up on a billboard for self-promotion. Again, the press took note, and the free press it received enhanced the radio station's publicity and, ultimately, its ratings.

Necessity is the mother of Invention, they say. Well, for advertisers who are on the lookout for Out-Of-Home options in Delhi where hoardings do not dot the landscape, there are a number of interesting options to choose from, namely -

  • Divider towers, especially backlit towers in high traffic areas like Connaught place
